Could Former NC State Teammates Trea Turner & Carlos Rodon Play Together in 2023?

David Kaplan, of ESPN 1000 Radio out of Chicago, dropped some juicy intel that involves two former NC State All-American Baseball players that were teammates in Raleigh, who were teammates on the National League All-Star Team this Summer: Carlos Rodon and Trea Turner.

Rodon is currently on the Giants, and Turner is currently on the Dodgers. Both of them become Free Agents after this year.

According to Kaplan, both Turner and Rodon are interested in playing for Chicago in ’23, and the Cubs have both of them on their radar as well.

“Heard something interesting today. Trea Turner? Definitely interested in the Cubs. Definitely. And the Cubs? Mutually interested in Trea Turner…And guess who else is interested in the Cubs? Carlos Rodon. Yes. Loved pitching in Chicago. Knows that the Cubs are a team with some players coming out of the system, and they need a top of the rotation arm ….But I’m just telling you: This team is going to spend, I’m told. For sure. And those are two of the guys they’re targeting.” (Link)

Now, where did Kaplan get this information? How reliable is this information? Man…I don’t know, but Kaplan isn’t some random dude on Twitter. He’s a ESPN radio host that covers Chicago sports with 126k Twitter followers.

Does that mean that his intel is solid? No. Does that mean that his source is solid? No.

But…hey…can you dream with me? Rodon and Turner reunited.

That would be something.
