Dave Doeren Talks with Media After Practice on Thursday Before UCONN

• Running Back Jordan Houston and Nickel Tyler Baker-Williams are still day-to-day, and he won’t share what the plan is before the game.
• The kids practiced hard in the heat this week. They had a really good focused day today.
• Linebacker Payton Wilson was sore Tuesday after playing a full game Saturday, but a good sore. Had a good week of practice.
• Defensive End C.J. Clark reminds him of Justin Jones (now on the Bears).
  • Gets off the ball and is very quick like Justin.
  • Good to see him get 2 sacks. He was excited. Need that from the defensive front.
• Right Tackle Bryson Speas is a leader behind the scenes to a lot of guys, not just Offensive Linemen.
• Went to go see Texas Tech Linebacker Bryce Ramirez in the hospital, because if his son was in the hospital in another city, he would hope somebody would do the same.
  • Felt like it was something he could do for Ramirez in a tough moment.
  • Coach Thunder and Coach Howard went with him to the hospital.
  • It was J.J. Daugherty from the recruiting office that came up with the idea to create the “get well” card and have everyone sign it.
