NC State Quarterback Devin Leary is Day-to-Day, Won’t Require Surgery

Well…that’s good news. NC State Redshirt Junior Quarterback Devin Leary left the game with a shoulder injury in the Wolfpack’s 19-17 victory over FSU on Saturday night, with 5 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter.

According to Head Coach Dave Doeren, the MRI came back clean.

“He was fortunate. A lot of times when you see a Quarterback get hit while they’re throwing, it can be damaging. This was not that. Devin’s super tough, and he’ll grind. There isn’t a timeline. It could be this week, it could be six weeks. It’s really going to come down to how he recovers. We’re excited the news was what it was. I’m not going to get into it more than that.”

The fact that this is an injury that won’t require surgery is massive for Leary, and massive for the Wolfpack. With that being said, we don’t have a clue when we will see #13 behind center for the Wolfpack.

Will he be ready for #15 NC State’s Top-25 matchup against #18 in Syracuse this weekend? We don’t know.

If I’m honest, my heart sank when I saw the injury, and saw him come out in a sling. Having torn both of my shoulders, I was expecting a season ending injury.

Thankful that this was the update, and praying Devin is back on the field in good health for the Wolfpack sooner than later.
