NC State Has to Find a Way to Score Touchdowns with Leary Out

I am beyond impressed with what NC State Place Kicker Chris Dunn has done in the first 7 games of the 2022 season. He is one of 10 kickers nationally to make all of their kicks thus far in 2022, and his 14 field goals are tied for the most in the nation. He was named a Midseason All-American by the Associated Press.

With that being said, NC State won’t continue to win football games if all they have to put points on the board is the leg of Chris Dunn.

The last time the Wolfpack scored a touchdown was in the 3rd quarter of the Florida State game, and that was a touchdown pass from Devin Leary to Darryl Jones.

When NC State failed to scored a touchdown up at Syracuse, it marked the first time in 101 games that the Wolfpack failed to get the ball across the goal line.

In 5.5 quarters of play since Jack Chambers replaced the injured Devin Leary, NC State has kicked 7 field goals.

That won’t get the job done.

Hopefully NC State Offensive Coordinator Tim Beck went to the play book during the Bye week and cooked up something new to work with Chambers behind center. When Leary went down with a broken fibula in 2020, Beck found away to move the offense with Bailey Hockman, winning 5 games.

Hopefully he can do it again.
