Men’s Basketball: NC State 73 Campbell 67: BOX SCORE
NC State Men’s Basketball improved to 2-0, beating Campbell 73-67. Below is the Box Score.
Sophomore Terquavion Smith scored 17 of his 19 points in the 1st half, had a team high 6 assists, and also chipped in 3 steals. He only took 4 shots in the 2nd half, missing all of them.
Senior Point Guard Jarkel Joiner literally won the game for the Pack in the second half. He scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half when NC State was desperate to find offense. He also had 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Senior Forward Jack Clark was the only other player that scored in double digits, scoring 10 points on a poor 2 of 7 shooting. He did have a team high 9 rebounds and a team high 4 steals.
The Wolfpack’s defense was poor this evening, allowing the Camels to shoot 47.2%, and an unacceptable 55.6% from beyond the arc.
The Wolfpack will be back in action next Tuesday in PNC Arena against FIU at 9pm.
Clark has really impressed. 10 pts 7 rbds 4 steals and only 2 fouls is phenomenal. Joiner sealed the deal last night. Terq played half a game superbly. But Clark was the blue collar guy.
This team needs the learn/remember how to get the ball inside.
That is a rough offense to prepare for, glad we (barely) survived it. Credit for adjusting and cutting down on the back door cuts in the second half. If they hadn’t shot 55% from 3PT, it wouldn’t has been close. But credit to them for getting the ball to the open shooter, and to those shooters for hitting them. Can’t believe our 3PT shooting went so cold. We had some good looks. Pass played better, solid 12 mins. Ross got 9 mins in a tough game, good to see. They’ll keep improving. Gantt was dressed, but probably wasn’t ready for… Read more »
Our bigs struggled against that princeton type offense, kept getting pulled too far out. Glad to get any kind of win this early when upsets are common. 3pt shooting was 0’fer except for Smith, ouch.
I guess now we know what Jarkel can do for us.
I listened to Jarkel’s radio post game interview, I really like that kid, seems super mature, humble, and ‘gets it’.
I think most bigs will struggle in a Princeton style offense for the reason you pointed out. I liked Jarkel as well. We had some nasty ish scoring droughts.
Not sure what happened to the Community board, prolly too much spam, but glad to hear from you now.
Yep, seemed like they shut it down shortly after another of those foreign language posts hit. Sorry to see it go, but that platform was never going to be a long term solution.
I did like the fact that those on it (it it’s earlier iteration) generally were a little less ‘we lost a game, burn the place down’ than you see elsewhere.
