Men’s Basketball: NC State vs. Pitt: Series History

Published

on

The NC State Men’s Basketball team (7-1) will kickoff ACC play tonight against Pittsburgh (5-3) in PNC Arena at 7pm.

This marks the 25th time that the two schools have played one another, with the Wolfpack holding a 21-3 advantage. That’s the best winning percentage (87.5%) against any of the ACC schools that NC State will face this year.

The Panthers beat the Wolfpack last year up in Pittsburgh, breaking a 12-game winning streak by NC State against Pitt.

NC State has only lost to Pitt once at Home, and that was in 2013-14, with the Panthers overcoming a 15-point Wolfpack lead, defeating the Pack 74-62.

The series began back in 1948-49, with NC State demolishing Pitt 77-42.

Even though NC State has dominated Pitt in the series, that doesn’t mean the victories have been blowouts. In the last 10 games, the margin of victory has been 6 points, and in the last three games, it has been 2 points.
