Happy Birthday Coach Doeren!

Dave Doeren, Head Football Coach for the NC State Football team, turned 51 years old today. Even though this is Doeren’s 10th season in Raleigh, he is still young in the coaching profession.

It’s a rarity in College Football for a  coach to stay at the same place 10 years. Doeren’s 10-year tenure is the 11th longest in the FBS (131 schools), and the 2nd longest in the ACC, trailing only Dabo Swinney at Clemson (14 seasons).

Doeren’s 10-year tenure is the 2nd longest in the history of the NC State Football program, trailing only Earle Edwards, who coached 17 seasons for the Wolfpack (1954-70).

What has Doeren accomplished in 10 years as the head coach for NC State?

His overall record is 72-53, making him the 2nd winningest coach in school history, trailing only Earle Edwards (77-88-8).

Doeren has led the Wolfpack to three 9-win seasons, which is the most in school history. All three of them coming since 2017. He has a chance to make it 4 with a bowl victory this year.

Under Doeren, NC State has finished ranked in the College Football Playoff Top-25 three times, and he has a chance to make it 4 this year.

The Wolfpack has finished ranked in the AP Poll twice under Doeren, which is the 2nd most in school history. Lou Holtz led the Wolfpack to finish the season ranked in the AP Poll three times in (72-74). If NC State can finish this year ranked, it will mark only the 5th time in program history that the Wolfpack finished ranked back-to-back years in the AP Poll.

Over the past two seasons, Doeren led NC State to a 16-game winning streak in Carter-Finley Stadium, tying the school record set by Holtz back in the 70’s.

Doeren led the Wolfpack to a streak of being ranked in 17-straight AP Polls over the past two seasons, which is the 2nd longest streak in program history. The record is 22 straight over the 1992-93 seasons.

Under Doeren, the Wolfpack have gone bowling 8 times in 10 years, which is another program best.

Since 2014, Doeren has led NC State to a 69-44 overall record, which is the 2nd best record in the ACC, trailing only Clemson. That’s pretty incredible when you think about it.

Happy Birthday Coach! You’re one of the best to ever do it at NC State.

If NCSU was in the Coast thru division, I”m pretty sure DD would at least have had us in the ACCCG twice.

I’m ready to get rid of the divisions and lets let the two best teams go to the game.

Clemson totally obliterating UNC was probably a nice little birthday gift from Dabo. Speaking of which, another rookie completely outplays Hypesman candidate
