NC State Center Dusan Mahorcic will have surgery on his dislocated patella that he suffered in the Wolfpack’s game against Coppin State in Reynolds Coliseum on Tuesday night.

The official statement from the NC State Basketball program also says that Mahorcic will be out indefinitely.

Mahorcic has started in 9 of NC State’s 10 games thus far in 2022-23. He currently ranks 4th in the ACC in field goal percentage (64.3%) and 13th in rebounds per game (6.7).

Sadly, Dusan is unlikely to be factor in the rest of the season. If he comes back and plays at all, the fate of the season will likely have been sealed.
I really liked him. Loved his game and his attitude.
Third consecutive year losing a starter.

Google gives me recovery times for dislocated patella ranging from 6 weeks for minor without surgery up to 6 months for serious requiring surgery. Good news is recovered knees are not typically prone to repeat injury.

So maybe we’ll be lucky and have him back before end of season.

I read in an old article from when he went to Utah State that he was prone to dislocate his kneecap and that this had happened there. I don’t think they mentioned anything about surgery, though.
