Indiana Transfer Tight End AJ Barner (6’6″/252) started an Official Visit to NC State today, according to a source.

Barner took an Official Visit to UCLA this past weekend.

In 2022, Barner had 28 receptions for 199 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Hoosiers in 10 games. In 2021, he had 14 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown in 9 games. In 2020, he played in 8 games primarily on Special Teams.

Coming out of High School, Barner was a 3-star prospect out of Aurora, Ohio.

Barner was a team captain for Indiana this past year.

Here’s what Barner had to say to 247Sports:

“At the end of the day, I’m 20 years old now instead of coming out of high school. Where I go, it will be all about football and school,” he explained. “I’ll be more comfortable than ever making a decision and going some place far away from home or if I’m closer, either one, I just want to go to the best place for me to be the best player possible.

“I want to go to a place that can develop me and maximize my skills in the best way possible to be a pro, eat the way I need to to take care of my body and where I’ll be used in a way where I’ll be an impact player,” (247)

According to Allen Trieu of 247, Barner wants to make his decision between Christmas to early January.

Barner has 2 years of eligibility remaining.
