This week ESPN released their rankings of the Top-25 players on Women’s College Basketball thus far in the 2022-23 season, and NC State Junior Point Guard Diamond Johnson ranked 24th.

2022-23 stats:

Johnson has been sidelined since an ankle injury on Dec. 11 versus South Florida, but she has been a steadying force for a Wolfpack team that is replacing four starters from last year’s Elite Eight run. After struggling in the second half against UConn, allowing the Huskies to run away with the win, Johnson showed up massively for NC State in its first top-10 win of the season over then-No. 10 Iowa, pouring in 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field and adding nine rebounds. The Wolfpack need those around her to step up too to contend for the ACC title and make a deep NCAA tournament run, but it all starts — as expected — with their primary star in Johnson. — Philippou (ESPN)
