Joiner again is perfect from free throw line. Burns was his dependable self but could not keep up with their bigs outside. However, our defense generated the stops, steals and turnovers to overcome a great shooting night by ND. I want to send a special shout out to Ebe (and Ross). Together they had 13 points, 4 rbds, and 4 blocked shots. Proud of all the guys and very thankful we won.
Rough game, thanks heavens we squeezed by them. Would have been a really bad loss.
How did we even win this game? Notre Dame’s shooting percentage was kind of bonkers. 58% in the first half, 51% in all, while we shot pretty poorly. Anyway, same sentiments Papajohn, rough game. After muscling through that, I felt like we lost but most certainly glad we won. It does sound like Notre Dame (despite their record) has had a lot of close games. Wow! I looked some more at the stats. Steals and turnovers. We had 2 turnovers and they had 15. They had 1 steal and we had a healthy 9. Our defense at this point really seems to be coming alive. If we can get our offense clicking… I say, watch out!
Teams with good shooters and nothing to lose are dangerous. They had nothing to lose and could heave up a 3 with a clear mind. ND is a good team with excellent ball movement, just can’t put it all together and not enough key stops on defense.
We are often making big plays and stops when needed. Only 2 turnovers! That’s elite guard play and really good ball control by everyone. Smith racking up some assists again.
Breon was showing some speed out there!
Our rebounding wasn’t elite though.
