NC State is the 1st ACC Team with 20 Wins in 2022-23

#22 NC State is the first Men’s Basketball team in the ACC with 20 wins in the 2022-23 season.

Who predicted that in the preseason?

The Wolfpack are picked to finish 10th in the ACC in the Official Preseason Poll.

NC State finished last year with an 11-21 overall record, and a 4-16 record in ACC play.

The job that Kevin Keatts and his staff have done turning things around this season is remarkable.

The Wolfpack have 5 ACC/Regular Season games remaining, and not to get ahead of myself, but the Wolfpack are projected to win 4 of the 5 (all except Duke) according to ESPN and KenPom.

If that were to happen, NC State would enter the ACC tournament with 24 overall wins and 14 ACC wins.

The last time NC State won 24 games in the regular season? 1973-74 when the Wolfpack won the National Championship and finished with 24 wins in the Regular season, and 30 when it was all said and done.

Last time NC State won 14 ACC games.

Never.

(Now, I know historically, teams have not played 20 conference games, but it was fun to type “Never.”)

We don’t know how NC State will finish the season, but it has the makings of being one of the better seasons in school history.
