NC State Point Guard Jarkel Joiner was named a Co-ACC Player of the Week for his performances against Syracuse and rival UNC last week.

Joiner averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals in games against Syracuse and North Carolina. The Oxford, Mississippi, native posted the fifth triple-double in NC State program history with 15 points, career-high 11 assists and 10 rebounds at Syracuse. The triple-double was the 38th in ACC history and just the 14th in a league game. He followed it up by tying a season high with a 29-point performance against UNC, with 20 coming in the second half. He made his final seven field goal attempts of the game. UNC led 54-48 with 10 minutes to play, but NC State ended the game on 29-15 run, with Joiner scoring 18 Wolfpack points during that decisive stretch. (ACC)

This marks the 2nd time that Joiner has been named ACC Player of the Week this season. In fact, Joiner is the only NC State Player to be named ACC Player of the Week this season.

It’s probably a petty thing to whine about, but JJ is “CO” player of the week? A triple double is so rare, you’d think he’d not have to share the accolade. Yes, Ellis scored 28 & 21 – great games, but compared to a triple double??
