NC State’s History in the NCAA Tournament Heading into Friday’s 1st Round Matchup

NC State’s Men’s Basketball team will be playing in the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, marking the 26th time the Wolfpack have been in the Big Dance.

The Wolfpack rank 36th all-time in NCAA Tournament appearances.

NC State is 13-6 all-time in the 1st Round.

They are 2-2 as the #11 seed, and 1-3 vs. the #6 seed.

The names of the Region are subject to change, but the Wolfpack has never been in the South Region.

This will mark the 3rd time NC State has played an NCAA Tournament game in Denver, Colorado, going 1-1 in the previous two games.

NC State has advanced to the Round of 32 twelve times, the Sweet 16 eleven times, the Elite 8 six times, the Final Four three times, and the National Championship 2 times, where they won both.

The Wolfpack’s 11 trips to the Sweet 16 are tied for 26th all-time. Their 6 trips to the Elite 8 are tied for 31st. Their 3 Final Four trips are tied for 28th. Their 2 trips to the Finals are tied for 17th. Their 2 National Championships are tied for 9th.

NC State is 1 of 15 schools with 2 or more National Championships.

The last time NC State made the Sweet 16 was in 2015 as an #8 seed.

The last time they made the Elite 8 was in 1986 as a #6 seed.
