Could Thayer Thomas Find a Spot as the Vikings Punt Returner?

Published

Former NC State Wide Receiver Thayer Thomas went undrafted earlier this year, but he signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings.

This past week, Thomas was catching punts in pre-practice work alongside Jalen Reagor and Jordan Addison.

Reagor returned punts for the Vikings last year, but the results were meager, averaging 6.4 yards per return.

Thomas returned 70 punts in his career at NC State, averaging 9.7 yards per return. Thomas took one to the house in 2019, a year in which he averaged 13.7 yards per return. In 2020, he earned 3rd Team All-ACC honors as a Punt Returner, averaging 10.0 yards per return.

Make sure to tune in next Thursday for Minnesota’s first preseason game against the Seahawks at 10pm, to see if Thomas can begin carving out a spot for himself.
