NC State’s Depth Chart vs. Marshall (with Notes)
NC State has released their depth chart for their home game against Marshall this weekend.
Notes
- Head Coach Dave Doeren announced that Sophomore MJ Morris will be starting at Quarterback this week ahead of Brennan Armstrong.
- Doeren also announced that Redshirt Junior Dylan McMahon will be stepping back into his role as the starting Center, after missing the past two games due to injury.
- As a result, Redshirt Sophomore Lyndon Cooper is able to move back to his normal starting position at Left Guard. He is still listed as McMahon’s backup at Center.
- The Wolfpack coaching staff isn’t simply reassessing who they have as their starting Quarterback. They are also reassessing the Wide Receiver position.
- Sophomore Terrell Timmons is now listed as the starter at X Receiver.
- Timmons had his best performance of 2023 this past Friday against Louisville, snagging 3 receptions for 71 yards.
- Redshirt Sophomore Julian Gray is no longer the starting X Receiver, but has been named the starting FLEXY receiver (a form of Inside Wide Receiver).
- Junior Porter Rooks has been the starter at the FLEXY position since Week 1. Rooks and True Freshman Juice Vereen are now listed as Gray’s backups.
- To be honest, I love this idea, because I’ve never seen Gray as an outside receiver. He is a playmaker that needs to have more high percentage opportunities to get the ball in his hands.
- Sophomore Terrell Timmons is now listed as the starter at X Receiver.
- Junior Strong Safety Devan Boykin is listed as the starter once again, after missing last week due to injury.
- Junior Bishop Fitzgerald is listed as the backup, but there is an “or” between their names.
