NC State vs. Wake Forest Has a VERY Long History

NC State and Wake Forest will play one another in football today for the 117th time. The Wolfpack has faced the Demon Deacons more than any other opponent in the 132 year history of the football program.

In fact, the two teams have played one another every single year since 1910, making it the 2nd longest continuous rivalry in college football, trailing only Wisconsin and Minnesota, whose continuous streak dates back to 1906.

NC State holds a 68-42-6 overall advantage in the series, but it’s been split right down the middle as of late. Each team has won 5 of the last 10. Wake Forest has won 11 of the last 20.

Believe it or not, NC State’s record in Winston-Salem historically is 30-21-2, but since 2001, the home team has benefited from home field advantage in a mighty way. The Wolfpack has gone 9-2 at home since then, and so has Wake Forest.

Dave Doeren is 1-4 in Winston-Salem, picking up his lone victory in 2015, winning decisively, 35-17.

Wake Forest has lost 2 in a row, and 5 of their last 6. NC State has won 2 in a row, and 3 of their last 4. With that being said, that all goes out the window tomorrow. Anything can happen when these two face one another.
