NC State vs. Virginia Tech: A Historical Perspective

NC State and Virginia Tech will face each other for the 52nd time tomorrow, and the 17th time in Blacksburg, in a series that dates back to 1900.

The Hokies hold the edge in the series, especially on their own turf. Overall, Virginia Tech holds a 28-19-4 record against NC State, and a 11-3-2 record at home.

The Hokies have won 3 straight against the Wolfpack at home. The last time NC State won in Blacksburg was 2004, with the Wolfpack winning 17-16 on the road. The only other time the Pack won in Hokie territory was in 1951, winning 19-14.

NC State defeated Virginia Tech the last time out, squeaking out a 22-21 victory at home last year. Prior to that, the Hokies had won 5 straight in the series.

Wolfpack Head Coach Dave Doeren is 1-2 against the Hokies. His first two matchups against Virginia Tech were in Blacksburg, losing 24-45 in 2020, and 13-28 in 2015.
