Dave Doeren Has Led NC State to a Level of Consistency They Haven’t Seen in 30 Years

As human beings, we are notorious for not being grateful for what we have. As a result, we take good things for granted.

I think NC State fans often aren’t grateful enough for who Dave Doeren is, and what he has done for the Wolfpack football program.

The following tweet has made its rounds, but if you’ve already seen it, read it again.

NC State is 1 of 4 schools that have won 8+ games in each of the last 4 seasons, and their company is Georgia, Alabama and Notre Dame.

Here’s another one: NC State has never had 4 consecutive seasons of 8+ wins. The school started playing football in 1892.

The Wolfpack have posted winning conference records in 5 of the last 7 years (Doeren didn’t lead NC State to a winning conference record in his first 4 seasons). The last coach to do that was Dick Sheridan (1986-92). For perspective, Tom O’Brien and Chuck Amato each only had 1 season with winning records in conference play, and Mike O’Cain only had 2.

NC State had similar 5 of 7 year runs in the 60’s and 70’s as well.

Doeren has helped restore dignity to the NC State football program.

NC State has the 2nd best ACC record since 2020.

NC State has the 3rd best overall record (not conference record) in the ACC since 2014.

Put some respect on Dave Doeren’s name. Wolfpack fans, you should be grateful to call him your Head Coach.

I was wondering how that is possible that we are only one of 4 then I looked up the records. Forgot how many teams didn’t even play 8 games during 2020 covid year. So even though Ohio State was undefeated, they only played 5 games. We out-CoVided them.

That being said, it’s still a great accomplishment.
