Michigan State Reaches out to Dave Doeren About Head Coaching Vacancy

Published

on

According to Football Scoop, Michigan State reached out to NC State’s Dave Doeren last week about the possibility of being their next head coach.

In mid- to late-week conversations, Michigan State is said to have spoken with/interviewed Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith, Toledo coach Jason Candle and also has had conversations with North Carolina State coach Dave Doeren, per sources. (Football Scoop)

Doeren wasn’t the only coach that the Spartans reached out to, as they are looking to fill the void left by Mel Tucker, who was fired back on September 27th for “inappropriate behavior.”

Honestly, it’s not shocking that Michigan State reached out to Doeren. He has built one of the most consistent programs in the ACC in his tenure in Raleigh.

As a fan, you should want your coach to have other schools try to hire them. It’s a sign that they are doing their job well.

I’d be shocked if anything came of this.
