NC State Running Back Michael Allen Enters the Transfer Portal

True Sophomore Running Back Michael Allen announced today that he will not be playing in the Wolfpack’s regular season finale against UNC this weekend, and will be entering the Transfer Portal.

Allen missed this past weeks game against Virginia Tech due to an injury he suffered against Wake Forest. In 10 games this season, Allen rushed for 251 yards and a touchdown, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. As a True Freshman in 2022, Allen rushed for 268 yards in 7 games, averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

In 2023, Allen has only averaged 5.7 carries per game. For comparison, in 2022, Allen averaged 7.6 carries. Allen probably wasn’t expecting to see his carries decrease in year 2, and is looking for a place where he will be featured.

The Running Back room will feature True Freshman Kendrick Raphael and Redshirt Junior Delbert Mimms III for the final two games of 2023, as we saw on Saturday night at VT.

Allen has two more years of eligibility, as well as his redshirt season.
