Missouri OL Transfer Valen Erickson Commits to NC State

Missouri Offensive Line Transfer Valen Erickson (6’6″/313) is on an Official Visit to NC State this weekend, and he didn’t wait until the end to make his decision. Erickson has committed to NC State.

As a high school prospect, Erickson was a 3-star prospect out of Chicago, Illinois, also holding an offer from Nebraska. Rivals ranked him as the #7 player in the state of Illinois in the 2022 class.

Erickson has 3-years of eligibility remaining.

The Wolfpack have now picked up 3 Transfers in the 2024 class, all within the past two days.

Regarding why Val has not played in two years at Mizzu, he, like most OL recruits, redshirted his first season and then was suspended partway through the year last year (his redshirt freshman year) for an indident that was vetted by our staff and deemed nothing that was overly concerning in terms of pursuing him as a transfer. Kid originally committed to Nebraska before signing with Mizzu. He can play both RT and OG and if you watch his film, he plays with the type of attitude you want in your OL. Why has Erickson not played at Missouri in two years? Are we getting desperate this early in the transfer cycle to get players that have not proven any worth in college?
