Two Former NC State Players Find Their New Schools

Today two former NC State football players who recently hit the Transfer Portal announced they had found their new schools.

Wide Receiver Porter Rooks announced that he will be playing his final year of eligibility at Eastern Michigan.

Rooks was a consensus 4-star prospect in the Wolfpack’s 2020 recruiting class, out of Charlotte, North Carolina. ESPN ranked Rooks as the #193 overall player nationally in 2020.

Over 4 seasons, Rooks caught 79 balls for 891 yards and a touchdown in 49 games. In 2023, Rooks had a career low 13 receptions. In his first two seasons, he had 200+ yards receiving, but failed to match that the past two seasons.

Rooks has 2 years to play his final year of eligibility.

Linebacker Torren Wright announced his commitment to Temple.

Wright was a 4-Star prospect in NC State’s 2022 recruiting class out of Kannapolis, North Carolina. Rivals ranked him as the #8 overall player in the state of North Carolina in 2022.

He redshirted last year, and played in 7 games this season, all on Special Teams.

Wright will have 3 years to play his 3 remaining years of eligibility.

Yesterday, former Wolfpack Wide Receiver announced his commitment to Colorado.
