NC State Linebacker Payton Wilson was dubbed a 1st Team All-American by The Sporting News and the American Football Coaches Association over the past two days. With those two in the bag, to go along with the AP, Football Writers Association of America and the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Wilson is officially a UNANIMOUS 1st Team All-American.

After earning nods from the AP, FWAA and WCFF, Wilson became a CONSENSUS 1st Team All-American earlier this week, becoming the 11th player in NC State history to do so.

DT Dennis Byrd – 1966

To be named a UNANIMOUS All-American, you have to be named to the 1st Team by all 5 groups (This is the way Unanimous All-American’s have been decided since 2002. Prior to that, the collection of voting bodies which determined the Unanimous title varied through the years.).

Wilson is the 4th player in NC State history to be named a UNANIMOUS All-American.
