Maryland Transfer Cornerback Corey Coley Jr. (6’2″/180) just verbally committed to NC State!

Coley Jr. took an Official Visit to Raleigh this weekend, and it obviously made quite the impression.

He played in 11 games for Maryland this year, starting in 2, finishing with 9 tackles and 2 pass breakups. Coley Jr.’s PFF grade was 61.3 (305 snaps). In 2022, he played in 11 games, starting in 1, finishing with 14 tackles (291 snaps). Coley Jr. played in 11 games as a True Freshman in 2021, starting in 3, finishing with 14 tackles and 1 pass breakup (230 snaps).

Coley Jr. was a 3-Star prospect in the Terrapins’ 2021 recruiting class out of Jacksonville, Florida. NC State recruited him in the past, offering him a scholarship back in high school.

Even though he wasn’t a regular starter for Maryland, if you look at the snap counts above, the Wolfpack are getting an experienced veteran.

Coley Jr. has 2 years to play his final year of eligibility.

These guys are a dime a dozen. 3 star and not even a starter with only one year to play. Why are we wasting time with this caliber of players?

Another article on the site had 18 players transferring out of the program. I saw a roster that listed 16 seniors. When you have to replace 30-something players, it makes sense to get some veterans. And it’s even better when they have P5 experience.
