PI EXCLUSIVE: JUCO LB Wyatt Wright Breaks Down His Commitment to NC State

Published

on

NC State picked up a commitment this morning from Junior College Linebacker Wyatt Wright, and I was able to catch up with him to get his take on running with the Wolfpack.

What was it about NC State that led you to commit?

Really the chemistry the staff has, and the development and production the program has.

What has been the coaching staff’s message to you?

That I can make an impact on the defense right now, and get developed into an elite player and person.

How does Coach Gibson think you’ll fit in his system?

My favorite part of my Official Visit this weekend was watching film with Coach Gibson. I don’t know a lot about the 3-3-5 stack, but I’m falling in love with it. He sees me as a SAM Linebacker, really using my skills to attack the outside and open field.

What did you do on your Official Visit?

A lot of eating. We went golfing. I met a lot of alumni like Isaiah Moore.

What are your individual expectations for next season?

I expect to lead the team with violence and intensity, and show off my skills.

What are your expectations for the team next season?

My expectations for the team would be conference champs, and getting into the College Football Playoffs.

A few notes on the interview above.

  • Jaylon Scott, who is a Senior and out of eligibility after the bowl game, has been the Wolfpack’s starting SAM Linebacker in 2023.
  • Isaiah Moore has recently come on staff in the recruiting department, and is already making and impact.
