3-Star 2025 Cornerback Jakarrion Kenan (6’1″/180) confirmed with me that he is taking an Official Visit to NC State this weekend.
ON3 ranks Kenan as the #38 Cornerback in the nation, and the #10 overall player in the state of North Carolina in the 2025 recruiting class. He plays for Marlboro County in Clinton.
NC State offered Kenan back on October 14th.
Kenan is a former Rutgers verbal commit. He verbally committed to the Scarlet Knights on June 16th, and decommitted on October 13th. NC State offered him the next day.
He also holds offers from Cincy, Georgia Tech, ECU, Rutgers, Mississippi St., Indiana, Memphis, Coastal Carolina and others.
That ranking is going to rise a little more tomorrow when the flip that is coming is announced. It’s going to be a good day tomorrow Pack fans!
It will be curious to see if State and other P5 schools will settle on a ratio of traditional recruits versus transfers. As of today, it’s nearly a 3:1 ratio of traditionals to transfers. My guess is that you’d want that ratio to be lower, like 2.5 or even 2.0
While you’ll likely get the traditional guys for longer periods of time, you get more certainty with the transfers. Porter Rooks was a 4-star recruit but there hasn’t been that type of production on the field from him. Grimes will likely be a big upgrade.
