Bradley Chubb Tears ACL in Blowout Loss to the Ravens

Former NC State All-American Bradley Chubb tore his ACL in the Dolphins’ 19-56 loss to the Ravens yesterday.

It’s heartbreaking to see this happen again to Chubb, who previously tore the ACL in his other knee in 2019 as a member of the Denver Broncos. It’s also frustrating that Chubb and any other starter was still on the field, trailing by 30 points with 3 minutes left in the game, with so much left to play for this season.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniels explained after the game that the players wanted to go back in, but the job of the coach in that instance is to deny their wishes. McDaniels expressed his regret in the press conference after the game.

“I mean, in hindsight, I would absolutely not have wanted him out there if I would’ve known that he was going to get hurt. … It doesn’t look very smart at all,” he said Sunday. “The players wanted to go back in and play and finish the right way heading into next week. And I have the ability to tell them no on everything in this situation. There’s plenty of decisions that I’ll cross examine. … The intention is always purposeful. And I made the call that the guys that went out there, they wanted to be out there.

“I would like a time machine, for sure.”

Chubb was having a Pro Bowl worthy season, with 45 tackles, 11 sacks and 6 forced fumbles with one game remaining.
