Savage Wolves announced today that Defensive End Red Hibbler will be returning to NC State in 2024.

Hibbler was a member of the Wolfpack’s 2023 recruiting class, as a Junior College prospect. ESPN ranked Hibbler as the #3 overall JUCO prospect in the 2023 class.

Since the inception of the Transfer Portal, Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren has emphasized the fact that the Junior College ranks are being ignored, and talented players are being passed over. Thankfully, the NC State coaches didn’t ignore Hibbler when he was playing at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Hibbler led NC State in sacks in 2023 (6.5), tied for the lead in forced fumbles (2), and tied for 2nd in tackles for loss (7). He also registered 13 tackles and 1 pass breakup. Hibbler’s PFF grade of 69.6 this season ranked 8th on the team.

In 2024, the Wolfpack will be without one of their 2023 starting Defensive Ends, with Savion Jackson out of years of eligibility. The Wolfpack will be returning their other starting Defensive End though. On December 29th, Davin Vann announced he would be returning to NC State for his final year of eligibility.

Jackson played in 476 snaps this season, and Hibbler played in 252. There obviously will be more snaps for the taking in 2024. Hibbler was primarily a pass rush specialist in 2023. He will have the opportunity to prove he is more than that in 2024.

Huge news for the Wolfpack!
