28 New Players Have Been Added to NC State’s Football Roster

Classes began on Monday, and 28 new players have been added to NC State’s football roster. 16 of those are incoming Freshman straight out of high school, 2 of those are Juniors straight out of the Junior College ranks, and 10 of those are incoming players from the Transfer Portal

• Justin Joly was the #1 Tight End in the Transfer Portal according to ON3, but he is listed as a Wide Receiver.
• True Freshman Asaad Brown, who was listed by every recruiting database as a Cornerback, is listed as a Nickel.
  • Brown was an All-American (Under Armour)
• Maryland Transfer Tamarcus Cooley told me that he was expecting to play Nickel, and that is what he is listed as.
• Last night Oklahoma Transfer Running Back Daylan Smothers committed to NC State, but his name is not on the roster at GoPack.com, but I expect that to change shortly.
  • Smothers is already enrolled.
• There are 6 other incoming Freshman next year that are not enrolling early: 4-Star LB Elijah Groves, 4-Star WR Jonathan Paylor, 4-Star DB Ronnie Royal III, 4-Star OL Tyler West, 3-Star DE Joshua Alexander-Felton, and 3-Star DL Justin Terrell.
