NC State Signee Paul McNeil Jr. Breaks the North Carolina High School Scoring Record
NC State is getting a scoring machine in 2024.
2024 signee Paul McNeil Jr. scored 71 points in Richmond’s 118-52 victory over Lee County last night, breaking the NCHSAA state record for most points in a single game, which had stood unscathed for 74 years. McNeil broke Bob Poole’s record of 67 points that he scored in 1950 for Clayton.
McNeil scored 19 more points than Lee County.

McNeil’s offensive explosion was also efficient, making 28 of his 49 field goal attempts. He also made 10 of his 26 three-point attempts. McNeil also had 16 rebounds and 6 steals.
On the year, McNeil is averaging an audacious 33.9 points per game, making him the leading scorer in the state of North Carolina.
