NC State Is Undefeated as the Favorite So Far in 2023-24

The NC State Men’s Basketball team has won the games they were supposed to thus far in 2023-24, going 12-0 when the oddsmakers in Las Vegas pick the Wolfpack to win. Dating back to last season, the Wolfpack have won 13 straight games as the Favorite.

Now be warned before you place your bet. If you’re following trends this year, betting Straight Up that NC State will win as the Favorite would be the way to go, because they 6-6 Against the Spread as the Favorite.

Last season, NC State was 18-2 overall when they were picked to win, and 10-2 in the ACC. In ACC play last year, the two games the Wolfpack lost as the Favorite were:

2/25/23 – Clemson (H) – 5.5-point favorite – 71-96 (L)

12/2/22 – Pitt (H) – 9.5-point favorite – 60-68 (L)

It’s a positive sign that the Wolfpack hasn’t dropped an egg thus far in 2023-24, winning the games that they were supposed to win. With that being said, if NC State wants to make the NCAA Tournament, or gain national respect in regards to rankings, they will need to win some games in which they are the Underdog.

Thus far, the Wolfpack are 1-4 as Underdogs this season. The lone victory was at Boston College on December 2nd. The Golden Eagles were 2.5-point Favorites, and NC State ended up winning 84-78 in OT.

NC State needs to handle business against Virginia Tech tomorrow, because I expect them to be picked to beat the Hokies at home (odds aren’t out yet). Next week the Wolfpack will have a chance to pick up some wins “they shouldn’t win”, playing UVA and Syracuse on the road. Obviously the odds haven’t been released for those two games, but KenPom & ESPN Analytics both currently project NC State to lose to both the Cavaliers and the Orange Men.
