This past weekend was the Divisional Round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs, and a handful of former NC State football players were in the mix.

Pro Bowler and All-Pro Left Guard Joe Thuney and the Kansas City Chiefs advanced to the Conference Championship game against the Ravens, defeating the Bills 27-24. Thuney played in 37 snaps, and didn’t give up a sack or a pressure. His snaps were limited because he left the game with a strained pectoral muscle. His PFF grade was 74.5.

Wide Receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (played his first two seasons at NC State before transferring to South Florida) had 2 receptions for 62 yards in Kansas City’s victory.

Defensive Tackle Alim McNeill was a part of history on Sunday, helping Detroit advance to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1991, defeating Tampa Bay 31-23. McNeill had 1 tackle. The Lions will play the 49ers on Sunday.

Defensive Tackle T.Y. McGill was on San Francisco’s roster (called up from the Practice Squad), but was inactive in their 24-21 win over Green Bay.

Defensive Back Derrek Pitts was on Tampa Bay’s Practice Squad, but not on their Playoff Roster. He did see playing time this year in the NFL, playing in two games. This week he signed with the Bucs again on a Futures Contract.
