#3 NC State lost their first home game of the season last night, falling to #16 Virginia Tech 61-72. For the 2nd straight season, the Hokies have swept the Wolfpack. Below is the Box Score with notes underneath.

Notes

• The Hokies zone defense held the Wolfpack to 35.6% shooting from the field.
• I know VT’s Elizabeth Kitley would have liked to have shot better than 50% from the field, but she left her mark with 25 points, 13 boards, 2 blocks and 3 steals.
• The Hokies hit 11 three-pointers, and each time they hit one, it seemed to stifle a Wolfpack run.
• Senior Guard Madison Hayes led the Wolfpack with 20 points, hitting 3 of her 4 three point attempts.
  • She also led the Pack with 7 boards.
• The Wolfpack had trouble moving the ball in the half court offense, accumulating a measly 4 assists on 21 made field goals.
• Junior Guard Aziaha James caught fire in the first half, scoring all 17 of her points in the first.
  • She was 0-4 in the 2nd half.
  • The Wolfpack needed her slashing ability to cut through the zone in the 2nd.
• Junior Guard Saniya Rivers was the 3rd Wolfpack player to score in double figures, with 12 points of her own, shooting 6 of 12 from the field.
