Today is the first day of Spring Football practice for NC State. The first hour or so was open to the media, and I was there taking it in and getting video footage. The videos will come later, but here are some quick observations.

Every year, on the first day of Spring Practice, everyone wants to know who was “running with the 1’s.”

As far as I could tell, here is a look at who the “starters” were, but as we all know, these might not be the official starters now, and they might not be in the Fall. There are players that are hurt, and there are players that aren’t here yet.

Linebacker is a position that everyone is curious about, after losing two starters in Payton Wilson and Jaylon Scott. The first unit consisted of Sean Brown at the WILL, Caden Fordham at the MIKE and Kamal Bonner at the SAM. Wyatt Wright was backing up Brown, Devon Betty was backing up Fordham and Kelvon McBride was backing up Bonner.

At Defensive Line, Brandon Cleveland was 1st Team Nose Tackle, and Davin Vann and Travali Price were the two 1st Team Defensive Ends.

At Cornerback, Aydan White and Brandon Cisse were running with the 1’s.

At Safety, it was Bishop Fitzgerald and Rente Hinton with the 1’s.

Devon Marshall was at Nickel.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Receivers that looked like the 1’s were Kevin Concepcion, Noah Rogers, Dacari Collins and Justin Joly. The 2’s were Wesley Grimes, Julian Gray, Jalen Coit and Dante Daniels.

Obviously Grayson McCall was QB1.
