Previewing NC State’s Opponent: FSU

NC State (17-10/9-7) will face FSU (14-13/8-8) on the road this evening, with the two teams tipping off at 9pm on ESPN2. Before they do, lets get to know the Seminoles.

FSU has defeated NC State in 5 straight games down in Florida.

Florida St. is 2-7 against Quad 1 opponents. Their two Quad 1 wins were against Colorado (77-71/N) and Wake Forest (87-82/H).

The Seminoles are 5-3 against Quad 2 opponents. They have wins against UNLV, Virginia Tech, Miami, Syracuse and Boston College. FSU has Quad 2 losses to South Florida, SMU, and UVA.

The worst part of FSU’s resume is their three Quad 3 losses: Georgia, Lipscomb and Louisville.

Currently, the Seminole’s have lost 4 of the last 5, and 6 of the last 8.

When you look at the Seminole’s rankings statistical ACC rankings, it is kind of shocking they have an 8-8 record in conference play.

Junior Forward Jamir Watkins leads FSU in scoring (14.9), Rebounds (5.9) and Steals (1.7). He is shooting 45.1% from the field, and 35.1% from three.

Senior Guard Darin Green Jr. is averaging 11.4 points per game, and is shooting 37.3% from beyond the arc.

Junior Guard Primo Spears is averaging 10.4 points per game, but his shooting percentages are rough, shooting 36.7% from the field, and 27.3% from deep.

Junior Guard Jalen Warley leads the team in assists (2.7).
