#14 NC State improved to 5-2 today, winning their first midweek contest against Queens 17-2. Below is the Box Score with notes underneath.

Notes

  • Freshman Cooper Consiglio picked up a Win in his first collegiate start today.
    • He pitched admirably, giving up 2 earned runs in 4 innings (59 pitches).
    • He struck out 3 and walked 1.
    • This is redemption for Consiglio, who made his collegiate debut against Hawaii this past weekend, and walked the one batter he faced, and ended up getting the Loss.
  •  NC State’s bats obviously haven’t cooled off.
    • The Wolfpack logged 14 hits, with half of them going for extra bases.
    • Three NC State batters had 3-hit performances.
      • 3B Alec Makarewicz continued his torrid start to the season, going 3 for 4, with a home run and a double. He finished with 4 RBI’s (tied for team high) and 3 Runs (tie for team high).
      • RS Freshman Drew Lanphere played Catcher for the 1st time this season.
        • He was 3 for 5, with 2 of his hits being bombs.
        • He also had 4 RBI and 3 Runs.
      • Freshman 2B Luke Nixon also put 3 Hits in the Box Score, with one of them being a double.
        • He also logged 3 Runs, and knocked in 2 Runs.
    • NC State didn’t commit an error defensively.
    • The Wolfpack pitchers only walked 3 batters, and struck out 8.
      • That’s a welcome surprise, after the NC State’s propensity to hand out free bases in the first 6 games of the season.
