#14 NC State Shuts Out Towson 10-0 in 2nd Game of Doubleheader

NC State kept their foot on the gas in the 2nd game of their doubleheader today, shutting out Towson 10-0 this evening.

Senior Logan Whitaker (2-1) pitched the best he’s pitched thus far in 2024, pitching 6 scoreless innings (90 pitches), striking out 4, while walking none in his second W of the year.

NC State hit 6 bombs in the game: JR C Jacob Cozart (2), SR 1B Garrett Pennington (1), SO CF Eli Serrano III (1) FR 2B Luke Nixon (1) and JR SS Brandon Butterworth (1).

Cozart now has 5 on the year, tying Alec Makarewicz for the team lead. Nixon’s was his first college baseball Home Run.

Pennington, Cozart and Serrano III all had multi-hit performances.

Pennington was 3 for 4, with 2 RBI’s and 2 Runs, with a Home Run and a Double. He currently leads NC State with 17 hits on the year.

Both of Cozart’s hits went over the fence, finishing with 3 RBI’s and 3 Runs. Serrano was 2 for 4, with 2 RBI and a Run.

NC State is now 8-2, and will face Towson in the season finale tomorrow at 1pm.
