For the 6th time in the past 7 seasons, the NC State Women’s Basketball team has advanced to the ACC Tournament semifinals. This evening, the #2 seeded Wolfpack defeated #7 seed Duke 54-51 in an ugly game.

The 10th ranked Wolfpack turned the ball over 15 times, shot 38.6% from the field, 25% from three, and 35% from the free throw line. Yes, you read that last stat correctly. NC State made 7 of their 20 free throw attempts.

Despite those woeful numbers, NC State held Duke to 30.2% shooting from the field, and 7.7% from three.

Junior Guard Aziaha James led the Pack with 16 points, scoring 8 of them in the 1st Quarter. She also tied for the team lead in Rebounds with 8. James also led the Pack with 7 turnovers.

The Wolfpack played their best when Freshman Guard Zoe Brooks was on the court. NC State was +10 with Brooks on the court, which led the team. Brooks finished with 10 points, and led the team with 5 assists and 3 steals.

NC State will play #6 seed Florida State tomorrow at 2:30pm, after the Seminoles upset #3 seed Syracuse 78-65 this evening. The Wolfpack defeated FSU 88-80 in OT at home back on January 4th.

Better go and practice free throw shooting or Florida State will mop the floor with you.
