#10 NC State fell to #14 Notre Dame in the ACC Championship game this afternoon 51-55.

The Wolfpack led by 6 points with 6:44 left in the 4th Quarter. Unfortunately, from that point forward, NC State would make only 1 of their final 9 field goal attempts. In that time span, the Irish went on a 12-2 run.

With 31 seconds left, Junior Guard Saniya Rivers threw the ball away on a fast break with the Pack trailing by only 2.

Honestly, neither team shot well, with Notre Dame shooting 35.6%, and NC State shooting 35%. A huge difference in the game was the Irish’s 8 made three-pointers (47.1%). The Wolfpack only made 3, shooting 17.6%.

Senior Center River Baldwin led the Pack in scoring, with 14 points and 7 boards. Junior Guard Aziaha James was the only other NC State player in double figures, scoring 12 points, making only 5 of 16 of her shots.

It really was a close contest, with Notre Dame leading 16:39, and the Wolfpack leading 15:02. Unfortunately, NC State couldn’t make a shot against the Irish’s zone defense in the final minutes.

It was a choke. 49-43 lead and only scored two points in the last 7 minutes of the game. I call that a choke. What has happened to this team?
