#11 Seeds are Winners In the NCAA Tournament in Recent Memory

NC State’s Men’s Basketball team is a #11 seed in this 2024 NCAA Tournament, and they will play #6 seed Texas Tech at 9:40 on Thursday night.

The Wolfpack are 5.5-point underdogs, but dating back to 2010, the #11 seeds actually have a winning record in the Big Dance.

Since 2010, #11 seeds have a 51.9% winning percentage over #6 seeds.

Last year, the #11 seeds, including NC State, were 1-3, with Pitt being the lone team with a victory, defeating Iowa State 59-41. The Wolfpack lost to Creighton 63-72.

Since 1982, NC State is 1-4 in the NCAA Tournament against #6 seeds. In the same time span, the Wolfpack are 2-3 as the #11 seed.

In 2012, NC State was an #11 seed when they went on a run to the Sweet 16. The Wolfpack beat #6 seed San Diego St. in the 1st round (79-65), #3 seed Georgetown 66-63, before narrowly losing to #2 seed Kansas 57-60 in the Sweet 16.

In 1987, the Wolfpack lost as a #11 seed to #6 Florida 70-82 in the 1st Round.
