NC State Broke the Longest Conference Championship Drought in Big 3 Sports Across Power 4 Teams

Before NC State won the 2024 ACC Tournament this past Saturday, it had been 37 years since the Wolfpack had won an ACC Championship in Men’s Basketball.

The Wolfpack officially got the monkey off of their back, snapping the longest Conference Championship drought (including Regular Season Championships) out of all Power 4 schools in the Big 3 Sports (Football, Men’s Basketball and Baseball).

Prior to this past Saturday, NC State’s last conference championship in any of the three sports was 1992, when former Head Coach Ray Tanner led the Wolfpack to an ACC Baseball Tournament title, defeating Clemson to take home the hardware.

It had been 32 years since NC State had won a Conference Championship, tournament or regular season, in Football, Men’s Basketball and Baseball.

The next longest streak behind the Wolfpack:

Northwestern: 24 years

It’s a beautiful thing to see NC State’s name crossed out on that top line.
