#22 NC State Wins Walk-Off Win 7-6 Against Notre Dame to Clinch Series

#22 NC State walked it off against Notre Dame last night with a Single by Freshman 2nd Baseman Luke Nixon, which knocked in Junior Catcher Jacob Cozart.

Nixon’s heroics were timely, considering the Wolfpack gave up 3 runs to the Irish in the bottom of the 8th, tying the game at 6 apiece.

Senior Logan Whitaker gave up 3 earned runs in 4 innings pitched, striking out 7 (3 BB’s). Sophomore Shane Van Dam pitched the final 1.1 scoreless innings, striking out 2, and picking up his 3rd Win of the season (3-0).

Luke Nixon was easily the player of the game, knocking in 5 RBI’s, with 4 of them coming on a Grand Slam in the bottom of the 6th. It was the Freshman’s 3rd Home Run.

Sophomore Left Fielder Josh Hogue was 2 for 5, with an RBI Single in the Bottom of the 7th.

Junior Shortstop Brandon Butterworth and Cozart both had multi-hit performances. Butterworth was 2 for 4 and Cozart was 3 for 4 with 2 Runs.

The Wolfpack is currently 7-4 in the ACC, which ranks 2nd in the conference.
