#22 NC State apparently loves the dramatic in 2024.

For the 2nd night in a row, the Wolfpack defeated Notre Dame with a walk-off hit.

Last night it was Freshman 2nd Baseman Luke Nixon. Today, it was Senior First Baseman Garrett Pennington’s 3 RBI Home Run in the Bottom of the 9th, giving the Wolfpack a 7-6 win over the Irish, securing a series sweep for the Pack.

Pennington’s walk-off Home Run was NC State’s 5th walk-off hit of the 2024 season. He was lights out today, going 4 of 5 with 2 HR’s, 4 RBI’s and 3 R’s. Pennington now has 7 Home Runs on the year, and is batting .386.

In the bottom of the 8th, it was Sophomore Left Fielder Josh Hogue’s clutch RBI Single that tied the game up heading into the 9th (the Irish would then take a 2 run lead in the Top of the 9th with a 2-run shot.).

True Freshman 2nd Baseman Luke Nixon continued to swing a hot bat, going 3 of 4 from the plate.

Sophomore Dom Fritton gave up 3 earned runs in 4.1 innings, striking out 5. His ERA on the year is 8.04.

NC State is now 18-7 overall on the year, and 8-4 in the ACC, which is good for 2nd place.

Next up for the Wolfpack: #14 ECU at home on Tuesday night at 6pm.
