The NC State Men’s Basketball team finished the regular season 17-14, but after postseason play, the Wolfpack finished the 2023-24 season with a 26-15 record, ending their season in the Final Four. As a result, NC State finished 10th in the Final AP Poll, marking the 1st time the Wolfpack have finished the season ranked since the 2003-04 season, when they finished 15th.

This is only the 2nd time the Wolfpack have finished the season ranked in the past 35 years.

The last time NC State finished the season ranked in the Top-10 in the AP Poll?

1974-75

Since the formation of the AP Poll in 1948-49, NC State has only finished in the Top-10 a total of 10 times.

2023-24 – 10th
1974-75 – 7th
1973-74 – 1st
1972-73 – 2nd
1969-70 – 10th
1958-59 – 6th
1955-56 – 2nd
1954-55 – 4th
1950-51 – 8th
1949-50 – 5th

Truly…truly…remarkable.

That is, quite frankly, bullshit. I doubt any other national champion has been ranked outside the top 10 after the season ended. Our team was actually a talented team that was just set back by injuries that year, which makes the final ranking even more idiotic.
