CARY, N.C. – NC State baseball underclassmen Cooper Consiglio, Jacob Dudan and Derrick Smith have all been invited to the 2024 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp.

The Wolfpack trio are three of just 56 premier non-draft eligible college players invited to this summer’s National Team Training Camp.

The training camp will feature a two-game Stars vs. Stripes intrasquad series at the National Training Complex in Cary from June 26-27. Both games are set to start at 6 p.m. The 28-man rosters for the 2024 Collegiate National Team International Friendship Series and Summer League Tour will be named on June 29 following the conclusion of training camp.

Consiglio, a freshman southpaw from Palm Harbor, Florida, made 15 total appearances with five starts in his first season with the Pack. Consiglio sported a 5-4 record with 38 strikeouts over 41.2 innings pitched, ranking first among a talented group of Wolfpack freshman pitchers with five pitching victories.

The left-hander dominated opposing batters over his final three regular season outings, posting a 3-0 record with pitching victories at No. 7 Florida State, No. 10 Virginia and at home against No. 8 Wake Forest. Over his final three regular season relief appearances, Consiglio tossed 12.1 innings while allowing only two runs (one earned). The left-hander struck out 15 batters while allowing only four hits and four walks over those three appearances, tossing a career-high seven strikeouts in the win over Wake Forest on May 16.

Dudan, an ACC All-Freshman Team honoree, ranked first on the team with 27 pitching appearances, sporting a 4-2 record with 56 strikeouts over 48.0 innings pitched. Dudan’s six saves ranked second on the team, nailing down half of those saves against ACC opponents. He also limited opposing batters to just a .218 batting average against him.

Dudan’s six saves, 48.0 innings pitched and 56 strikeouts led all Wolfpack freshman pitchers this season. The right-hander made four appearances in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, nailing down a save and pitching a total of 7.2 innings with 13 strikeouts.

Smith, a sophomore right-hander from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, emerged as the Pack’s closer in 2024. The right-hander led the Pack with eight saves, notching three of those eight stops in the NCAA Tournament. Smith sported a 2.45 ERA over 7.1 innings pitched in the NCAA Tournament, limiting opposing batters to a .130 batting average against him with eight strikeouts.

Smith also finished his sophomore campaign with a 3-2 record and 41 strikeouts over 29.2 innings pitched in 24 pitching appearances. Smith’s 24 pitching appearances trailed only Dudan in 2024. He also limited opposing batters to a .181 batting average.

Heading into the 2024 season, Nixon had a chance to battle for a starting spot, after starting in 18 of the 32 games he played in as a Sophomore. In 2023, Nixon hit .319, with an OBP of .402, and an OPS of .916. The way things panned out, Josh Hogue, Eli Serrano III & Noah Soles nabbed the starting jobs. Even when Hogue went down, Chase’s younger brother Luke was moved from the infield to the outfield.

Unfortunately, the Nixon boys won’t be on the same team for a second year.

Nixon has 1 year of eligibility remaining.
