Former NC State Defensive Tackle Larrell Murchison Added to Titans Practice Squad

Published

on

Former NC State Defensive Tackle Larrell Murchison has been added to the the Titans Practice Squad after being released by them yesterday.

Murchison was drafted by Tennessee in the 5th round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and has played in 21 games for the Titans over his first two seasons, starting in 5.

In 2020, Tennessee signed Murchison to a 4-year rookie contract worth up to $3.57 million, but obviously that contract was nixed after two years. In his first two seasons, Murchison earned $1.38 million.

At NC State, Murchison earned 2nd Team All ACC honors in 2019. What made Murchison’s rise to All-ACC status, and ultimately being drafted so impressive, is the fact that he spent his first 2 collegiate seasons at Louisburg (JUCO) before transferring to NC State.

Here’s a look at Murchison’s stats at NC State:

Murchison is 1 of 16 Practice Squad players that Tennessee signed. Here’s a look at what Practice Squad players make in the NFL.

Practice squad players make $11,500 per week or $207,000 for 18 weeks. Veteran players with over two years of experience will make a minimum of $15,400 per week or $277,200 for 18 weeks, and a maximum of $19,900 per week or $358,200. (Link)

Former NC State All-ACC Guard Dereon Seabron Signs Exhibit 10 Deal with the Pistons

Published

on

Former NC State All-ACC Guard Dereon Seabron has signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Detroit Pistons.

What is an Exhibit 10 deal?

Here’s what Google’s AI cooked up:

An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary, non-guaranteed NBA contract that teams can use to bring in players for Summer League competition. The contract can include an optional bonus of up to $75,000 if the player spends at least 60 days with the team’s G League affiliate after being waived.

Conversion to two-way contract: Teams can convert an Exhibit 10 contract into a two-way contract before the regular season begins. This guarantees the bonus and makes the contract a two-way contract.

Maximum number of contracts: Each team can have up to six Exhibit 10 contracts at a time.

Roster spot: If a player is kept on the 15-man roster after the regular season begins, their contract becomes a standard minimum deal.

Compensation protection: Exhibit 10 contracts don’t come with compensation protection.

When the contract becomes fully guaranteed: If the team doesn’t guarantee the deal, it becomes fully guaranteed on January 10. However, in reality, contracts become fully guaranteed on January 7 because players must clear waivers by January 10 to avoid this.

Seabron has been a 2-way player in the New Orleans Pelicans organization the past two seasons. He played in 11 games with the Pelicans over the past two seasons, spending most of his time with the Birmingham Squadron, their G-League affiliate. In 50 games over the past two seasons, Seabron has averaged 17.9 points, 5.6 assists and 5.5 rebounds with the Squadron, shooting 52.7% from the field, and 36.4% from three.

In 2022, Seabron earned 2nd Team All-ACC honors at NC State, averaging 17.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Former All-ACC NC State Forward TJ Warren is Working Out for the Kings

Published

on

Former All-ACC NC State Forward TJ Warren is working out for the Sacramento Kings.

Warren is looking to find a new NBA home as he approaches his 10th NBA season. Last year, TJ played in only 11 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 3.7 points in 11.4 minutes per game. In 2022-23, Warren played in 42 games split between Brooklyn and Phoenix, averaging 7.5 points in 16.4 minutes per game. Prior to that, TJ missed the entire 2021-22 due to a foot injury, which also caused him to miss all but 4 games of the 2020-21 season.

It’s been a rough couple of years for the former ACC Player of the Year (2014), but prior to that, Warren had been a starter in the NBA for 5 straight seasons, averaging 14+ points per game in each of those seasons.

As a Sophomore at NC State, Warren averaged 24.9 points per game, while shooting 52.5% from the field, leading the ACC in both categories. Only three players have ever done that. Warren is 1 of 6 NC State players to win the ACC Player of the Year award.
