NC State just made a STATEMENT, picking up a commitment from 2019 5-Star Point Guard Jalen Lecque (6’4″/190). Lecque is the 1st commitment in the Wolfpack’s 2019 recruiting class.
ESPN ranks Lecque as the #22 overall player in the 2019 recruiting class, and the #4 point guard. Lecque was playing for Christ School in Arden, North Carolina, but he recently transferred to Brewster Academy up in New Hampshire for his Senior season.
Lecque also included Tennessee, Texas Tech, Louisville, Oregon, TCU and UCLA in his Top-7, but he only took official visits to Raleigh and Knoxville.
At one point, there was a high chance that Lecque was going to reclassify to the 2018 recruiting class, but he chose to stay in 2019 to refine his point guard skills.
Last year was his first year running the show as a point guard at Christ School, and he did quite well earning MaxPreps All-American 3rd Team honors, averaging 20.1 points, 9.3 assists and 9.1 rebounds per game as a Junior.
He averaged 15 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists with the New York Rens on the Nike EYBL this Summer, and NC State head coach Kevin Keatts, and often his whole staff, took in almost all of his games. No one recruited Lecque harder than Kevin Keatts.
Lecque is a program changer. He has freak athleticism, and is deserving of the nickname “Baby Westbrook,” because his speed and hops are reminiscent of Russell Westbrook. At 6’4″, he is a perfect fit for Kevin Keatts system, being able to play multiple positions, and guard multiple positions. Lecque is a one-and-done type talent.
With the commitment of Lecque, the likelihood of landing 4-star small forward Patrick Williams have drastically increased. Williams and Lecque both took their official visit to NC State together.
4-Star 2025 Combo Guard Kaden Magwood (6’3″/170) has released his Final Three, and NC State made the cut along with Ole Miss and Auburn.
Magwood will be announcing his college decision on November 11th. He took an Official Visit to NC State at the end of August, and he has taken Official Visits to the other 2 finalists as well.
247Sports ranks Magwood as the #44 overall player nationally in the 2025 recruiting class, the #7 Combo Guard and the #1 player in the state of North Carolina.
Magwood plays for Combine Academy in Charlotte, and plays AAU ball with Team Loaded.
Jernigan is ranked as the #64 overall player nationally in the 2025 recruiting class by ESPN, and the #1 player in the state of North Carolina.
She chose NC State over a Final 3 that included Michigan and Kentucky.
Last season at Bishop McGuinness (Kernersville, NC), Jernigan averaged 19 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 46% from the field.
Jernigan is NC State’s first verbal commitment in their 2025 recruiting class.
Andrews took an Official Visit to Missouri last week, and he has one scheduled with Arkansas in the middle of October, one with LSU the second week of November and one with Marquette beginning on January 31st of next year.
NC State offered Andrews back on June 15th.
ESPN ranks Andrews as the #15 overall player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class, the #4 Small Forward and the #1 player in the state of Arkansas.
