NC State in the NFL: Week 8 Report

16 of the 21 former NC State players on active NFL rosters saw action in Week 7 of the 2019 NFL season. Check out a breakdown of how they did below.

Quarterback Russell Wilson (starter) was off the charts once again, posting a QB Rating of 131.7 in the Seahawks 27-20 victory over the Falcons. He was 14 of 20 for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns (0 interceptions). Wilson currently leads the NFL in QB Rating 115.5 and Touchdown Passes (17), and the Seahawks are 6-2. Despite that fact, he trails Aaron Rodgers by a hair as the favorite to win the MVP.

Oh yeah, Wilson and Ciara dressed up as Jay-Z and Beyonce for Halloween.

Offensive Guard J.R. Sweezy (starter) played 100% of the snaps in the Cardinals 31-9 loss to the Saints. Sweezy had the highest grade of any offensive player on Arizona in Week 8, and ranks as the 14th highest graded Offensive Guard in the NFL on the year.

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett (starter) had an average day for him in the Colts’ 15-13 victory over the Broncos, completing 15 of 25 for 202 yards with a QB Rating of 85.7. Despite that, the clutch play below set up Indy to kick a field goal that sealed the victory.

Quarterback Philip Rivers (starter) was 19 of 29 for 201 yards and a touchdown (1 interception) in the Chargers’ 17-16 victory over the Bears.

Rivers was chippy on Sunday.

His numbers weren’t sexy, but he was the highest graded quarterback in Week 8 according to ProFootballFocus.

Center Garrett Bradbury (starter) played 100% of the snaps for Minnesota in their 19-9 victory over Washington.

Defensive End B.J. Hill had 1 tackle in the Giants 31-26 lost the Lions, playing 46% of the defensive snaps. Despite the low stats, Hill has graded out really well this season.

Offensive Guard Joe Thuney (starter) played 100% of the offensive snaps in New England’s 27-13 victory over Cleveland. Through 8 games, Thuney is the highest graded player on the Pats Offensive Line according to ProFootballFocus.

Safety Juston Burris (starter) had 2 tackles in the Browns’ 27-13 loss to the Patriots, playing 32% of the defensive snaps.

Running Back Nyheim Hines had 4 rushes for 12 yards, and 3 receptions for 34 yards in Indy’s 15-13 victory over Denver. He played in 28% of the offensive snaps.

Offensive Tackle Will Richardson played in 33% of the offensive snaps in the Jags 29-15 victory over the Jets.

Wide Receiver Kelvin Harmon had 1 reception for 12 yards in the Redskins’ 19-9 loss to the Vikings on Thursday night. Harmon played 26% of the offensive snaps.

Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers had 1 reception (2 targets) for 5 yards in the Pats 27-13 victory over the Browns. He played 36% of the offensive snaps.

Place Kicker Stephen Hauschka (starter) missed a 53-yard field goal attempt, and only converted 1 of his two PAT’s in the Bills 31-13 loss to the Eagles.

Linebacker Germaine Pratt had 1 tackle in Cincinnati’s 24-10 loss to Los Angeles, playing in 26% of the defensive snaps.

Defensive Tackle T.Y. McGill played one snap in LA’s 17-16 victory over Chicago.

Punter A.J. Cole (starter) punted the ball 6 times for an average of 48.7 yards in the Raiders 27-24 loss to the Texans. Through 8 weeks, Cole is averaging 47.9 yards per punt, which ranks 4th in the NFL.
