Pack Pros: NFL Week 8 Report

This past weekend was the 8th week of the 2022 NFL season. Below is a breakdown of how the former NC State players on NFL rosters did.

Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers had 9 receptions (team high) for 60 yards and a touchdown in the Pats 22-17 win over the Jets. He was also targeted for a team high 13 times.

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett was 17 of 22 for 278 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland’s 32-13 win over Cincy. He also rushed the ball 6 times for 12 yards and a touchdown.

Running Back Nyheim Hines had 5 carries for 20 yards and a touchdown in Indy’s 16-17 loss to Washington. He also had 2 receptions for 29 yards.

Linebacker Germaine Pratt had 9 tackles in Cincy’s 13-32 loss to Cleveland.

Quarterback Russell Wilson was 18 of 30 for 252 yards and a touchdown (1 int) in Denver’s 21-17 victory over Jacksonville.

Defensive Tackle Kentavius Street had 2 tackles, 0.5 sacks, a tackle for loss and a QB Hit in the Saints’ 24-0 victory over the Raiders.

Defensive Tackle Justin Jones had 2 tackles in the Bears’ 29-49 loss to the Cowboys. Kudos to Jones, he has been named a Defensive Captain for Chicago.

 

Cornerback Nick McCloud had 2 tackles in the Giants’ 13-27 loss to the Seahawks. He started the game as the Nickel.

Defensive Tackle B.J. Hill had 5 tackles in the Bengals’ 13-32 loss to the Browns.

Punter Trenton Gill averaged 50.8 yards per punt on 4 punts in Chicago’s 29-49 loss to Dallas.

Safety Juston Burris had 3 tackles in Carolina’s 34-37 loss to Atlanta. Unfortunately, Burris left the game with a concussion.

Defensive End James Smith-Williams had 1 tackle and 3 QB Hits in the Commanders’ 17-16 victory over the Colts.

Linebacker Bradley Chubb had 2 tackles in the Broncos 21-17 win over the Jags.

Defensive Tackle Alim McNeil had 1 tackle in Detroit’s 27-31 loss to Miami.

Punter AJ Cole averaged 45.8 yards per punt on 5 punts in Las Vegas’ 0-24 loss to New Orleans.

Center Garrett Bradbury (Vikings) and Tackle Ikem Ekwonu (Panthers) played 100% of the offensive snaps for their teams.

Former NC State C Garrett Bradbury Signs 3-Year Deal with the Vikings

Former NC State All-American Center Garrett Bradbury has re-signed with the Vikings on a 3-year deal worth $15.75 million.

Bradbury just wrapped up his 4-year Rookie contract worth $13 million. The Vikings decided not to pick up his 5th year option prior to last season, but they decided to go ahead and re-sign Bradbury, who has been their starter since entering the league.

Former NC State WR Jakobi Meyers Signs 3-Year Deal with Las Vegas

Former NC State Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers got paid yesterday, signing a 3-year deal with the Raiders worth $33 million, with $21 million of it guaranteed.

After going undrafted, Meyers signed with New England, and has been with the Pats the past 4 seasons. Last year was the first year that Meyers made over $1 million, earning $3.986 million on a 1-year contract. Now he will average $11 million a season over the next three years in Vegas.

Over 4 seasons, Meyers has 235 receptions for 2,758 yards and 8 touchdown receptions. Meyers earned this pay day, leading the Pats in receiving yards for the past three seasons consecutively.

Former NC State LB Germaine Pratt Signs 3-Year Deal with Bengals

Former NC State Linebacker Germaine Pratt is going to be staying in Cincy, signing a 3-year contract with the Bengals worth $21 million.

Pratt just wrapped up his 4th season in the NFL, which was his best, tallying 99 tackles, 10 pass deflections and 2 interceptions.

The Bengals drafted Pratt in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Pratt was the 11th highest graded Linebacker in the NFL last seasons, and the 3rd highest in the AFC, posting a grade of 78.4 according to ProFootballFocus.

Former NC State Defensive Tackle BJ Hill, who has been a teammate with Pratt on Cincy the past two seasons, said he would go bald if Pratt re-signed.

The Bengals then trolled Hill, asking when the head was getting shaved.

Joe Thuney Now Has the Most Super Bowl Rings in NC State History

Former NC State All-American Offensive Lineman Joe Thuney earned his 3rd Super Bowl ring on Sunday, this time as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. Thuney won his first two as a member of the New England Patriots (2017 and 2019)

Entering the game on Sunday night, Thuney was one of 3 former NC State football players to have ever won 2 Super Bowls, joining Place Kicker Mike Cofer and Cornerback Perry Williams.

Thuney is now tied with legendary Center Jim Ritcher for the most Super Bowl appearances in school history, both having played in the game 4 times.
